About

The same problems, in different organisations, again and again.

The Defect Doctor exists because troubled technology projects are remarkably consistent — and because those patterns are visible long before anyone admits the date is gone.

After years working across software testing, quality assurance and complex technology delivery, the same patterns appear repeatedly.

Projects rarely fail because of one catastrophic event.

They fail because warning signs are missed, risks are normalised, testing becomes compressed, defects accumulate, governance weakens, and organisations gradually lose confidence in what they are being told.

The Defect Doctor was created to identify those symptoms earlier.

We are deliberately positioned as a diagnostic service rather than a delivery consultancy. Our value is in telling you what is actually happening and what needs to change — including when the honest answer is that you do not need to buy anything.

Founder

Gary Brookes

Founder of The Defect Doctor and of Luvo Testing, and the author of the diagnostic methodology behind the Project Health Check.

Gary's work spans software quality, project rescue, delivery assurance and testing strategy across complex technology programmes — including the ones that were already in trouble by the time he arrived. That experience is what the assessment encodes: the questions that reliably separate a project with problems from a project in genuine difficulty.
